Multi-tabling online
A huge advantage playing online has over playing live poker is the ability to be able to play multiple tables at the same time. Nearly all poker rooms allow you to play more than one table at once. Most players will play 2 to 4 tables at the same time, however there are some players who will grind 6,8, 12 or even more sometimes all at the same time.
So why do people play more than one table at once. The answer is simply to try to increase their hourly win rate. Someone who is a winner at one table can probably play 2 tables and continue to win. What about if they play 4 or 6 tables?
So with all this said it seems simple to just open up some more tables and our win rate will improve. This is certainly not always the case. Players that can multi-table 24 tables for example, did not start at that amount; they started playing a few tables and then increased as there game improved. Having to concentrate and having less time to make decisions means you are not able to put as much thought into each decision, consequently the conclusion you come to might not be the optimal one. It will be harder to put because you will normally be too busy making our plays on one table to analyse the plays on another. Therefore you will make less on each table, however, this is not necessarily such a bad thing, since there is still a good chance that you will be making more money overall.
The biggest hurdle with multi-tabling for extra profit is finding the optimum amount of tables to give us the largest win rate per hour. If we play at too many tables at a time then our win rate per hour on each of the tables could decrease, due to not being able to make the correct decisions, so much that we win less than if we were playing at one table at a time. Due to this the best approach to multi-tabling is to play standard ABC poker, value bet your strong hands and don’t get out of line and put yourself in difficult spots. Leave yourself with as much easy decisions as possible. This combats the fact it is difficult to find enough time whilst playing multiple tables to be able to make any difficult decisions.
